Dynamic Action Plugin Tooltip

Tooltip

9
Categories: Dynamic Action Plugin
Author: Guido Zeelen

The Tooltip plugin replaces native tooltips, making them themable as well as allowing various customizations:

  • display other content than just the title, like content retrieved via Ajax (PL/SQL Code) or an image stored in the database
  • customize the positioning, eg. to center the tooltip above elements
  • add extra classes to customize the appearance, for warning or error fields

A fade animation is used to show and hide the tooltip, making the appearance a bit more organic, compared to just toggling the visiblity.

See the readme files in the zip file for instructions.

Tooltip off screen
by Ino Laurensse
on March 7, 2012
I had the same problem as Andrew: tooltip is sometimes shown off screen. The tooltip is normally shown on the right in my case, but in a few cases it is shown on the left and mostly off screen.

I found out that this happens when there is some strange character in the first position.
I am retrieving the text via pl/sql, so I can remove any strange character, if needed.

Somtimes label tooltip is off screen
by Andrew Radtke
on January 24, 2012
Hi Guido,

I really like your plugin. I have a few questions/comments:

1 - Sometimes a sliver of the label tool tip is slightly positioned off screen and unreadable. I have tried using automatic positioning and resizing the width but I can't completely avoid this when the label is positioned at the far left. and I position the tool tip below the label.

2 - Sometimes, it hangs while retrieving the label help text. The spinning circle never quits spinning no matter how long I wait.

3 - In IE 9 the unfilled and filled callout connectors look like rectangles instead of triangles.

Any work-arounds for these issues?

Apex 4.0 installation
by Jens Marre
on December 13, 2011
Hello Guido,

thanks for your plugin! Since I got the same error as LKTG while trying to install on Apex 4.0.1.00.03 I started to change the installation file. I thought you probably hadn´t changed that much for your 4.1 build.

I managed to get it to work on Apex 4.0 with the following changes. May-be you could confirm my changes:

- Changed set_version - call to
wwv_flow_api.set_version(p_version_yyyy_mm_dd=>'2010.05.13');

- Removed the following line in the create_plugin -statement
,p_substitute_attributes => true

Thanks
Jens

Apex 4.1 issues
by Sebastian Kahlert
on September 13, 2011
Hello Guido! First of all congrats to that wonderful plugin! Since I applied it to my 4.0 apps, the prevailing 4.1 issues stop me from upgrading to the latest Apex release. I don't want to compromise your plugin.

Would it be possible for you to suggest a solution or release an updated version of your plugin!

Thanks for your time and effort!
