Dynamic Action Plugin SkillBuilders Modal Page

SkillBuilders Modal Page

Display entire APEX pages as modal dialogs

Modal windows are very popular these days – and for good reason. They can help focus users’ attention without disturbing the overall context of the user in the application. The SkillBuilders Modal Page plug-in was designed to display entire APEX pages as modal dialogs. Because the plug-in displays entire pages, it is possible to utilize all of the standard page components within the dialog including processes, computations, dynamic actions, validations, and more.

The SkillBuilders Modal Page plug-in was designed to make creating modal dialogs as declarative and simple as possible. In some cases JavaScript methods have been created to provide programmatic control of the plug-in as well. The plug-in also adds custom events to the Dynamic Action framework in APEX. When the modal page closes, one of two events is triggered. These events allow other Dynamic Actions to respond in any number of ways, such as refreshing a report or showing a success message.

Features at a Glance

  1. Displays entire APEX pages in a modal window
  2. Loading image and closing effects provide instant feedback and orientation
  3. Automatically closes modal via Success Message detection
  4. Built in events allows other Dynamic Actions to respond to the modal

Modal stops at loading image
by Marc Bodde
on April 10, 2012
I have installed the plug-in in de oracle sample application and it works like a charm. Really fast and easy.

But (and there's always a but) when I create a new application, install the plug-in, create the same simple IR and form on EMP with exactely the same code, the modal does not work.
It does pop-up, but it will not go past the loading image. I've tried changing the theme, the template but I never get past 'Bert'. Can you help me?

Thanks in advance,
Marc

Hi Fateh,

This is not a bug. Go into your dynamic action and scroll down to Advanced. Change the event binding to "live".

By the way, if you send me an email I'll send you a new version to test. Look in the documentation for the email address.

Regards,
Dan

Hi Dan,
Firstly, I would like to thank you for your efforts ....
In IR , i use Modal Page to 'Edit' records.
It works fine, but If I filter the report, then click on the edit icon, then it will not work.
In other words, if I want to search in the IR, then Modal Page does not popup...

Width/Height issues
by Alistair Laing
on February 29, 2012
Hi,

I'm having problems with the Width/Height options for this plugin. I'm using the latest jQuery 1.7.1 + jQuery UI 1.8.17. I've tried using static pixels/% of window and auto another nothing appears to be working. It seems to just stay on the "Inital width/height" that is defined in the plugins definition.

I'm having this issue in IE7 and FF10.
